About Schednet
Schednet.net was started in 2003 as a way of distributing schedules and results to coaches
and players of the Aurora Minor Hockey Association without having to worry about scheduling errors
or printing off huge numbers of calendars, only to be changed days later. It has gone through
several incarnations (for better or worse), however none have been as feature-rich as this version.
The following page gives a brief overview of the features available to your associations. For more
detailed information, visit the help pages.

Access Levels
The philosophy that Schednet has always had with scheduling and management is that it's a community effort.
As such there are several access levels which can modify various aspects of the association's experience at Schednet.
Schedulers hold the ultimate power on Schednet. They are the gatekeepers to the organization and have ultimate
veto power over all decisions. Schedulers have the power to manage time, events, results, and statistics. Schednet ettiquette, however,
discourages schedulers from micro-managing results and statistics.
Convenors are next on the totem pole, however this is a position generally reserved for only House League divisions, since
Representative teams generally do not operate within a single organization. Convenors have the power to manage aspects of only a single
age group/skill division.
Team Management has the ability to create events for their team and manage statistics and results for their team. They
do not have the power to veto or change Scheduler events. Results and statistics management is generally the job of the Team Management
Staff
Parents and Players can login to check their schedules and see results and statistics. They have read-only access to most
aspects of the teams and associations they are registered to.
Time Blocks
Minor sports organizations have to deal with time. A lot of it. And generally it is not restricted to only one venue, so
how can you possibly ask for a better system than one which offers a visual representation of the time you have in 3 dimensions?
(Well, it's actually only two-dimensions at a time. As soon as Sony comes out with 3-D screens we'll be on top of it!) With the Time
Block Management System that Schednet provides, you can see where you have free time available, who you have assigned to be able to use
that time, and where time is being used. You can compare the time across multiple venues over a single day, or multiple days over
a single venue. So for those times when you need to find time quickly and you've been staring at Excel for the past 12 hours, this is the tool
you've been dreaming of.
Event Management
Manage games, practices, playoffs, and even add other events to team calendars. The Schednet database centralizes all events
by all organizations, ensuring that no conflicts will occur within and between organizations using Schednet. When changes are made
to a team's schedule they will be notified both through the Recent Changes aggregator on their home page and through
e-mail.
Users have access to printable calendars and schedules. An Upcoming Events aggregator (accessible through both Schednet.net and RSS)
keeps users up-to-date on where and when their teams will be playing next. A Google Maps interface within Schednet allows users to
find maps to venues without ever leaving Schednet.net!
